This program is meant to be a positive introduction to the game of basketball for first year players and a skill sharpening opportunity for returning players. All participants can expect to learn, from parents and volunteers, the basics of basketball in a non-competitive and safe atmosphere. An emphasis will be placed on all players playing the same amount, good sportsmanship, fundamentals and having fun. K-1 and second grade will will work on fundamentals of basketball that focus on moving both with and without the ball. Game play will be implemented into the some of the drills that we do and could be 3 on 3, 4 on 4, 5 on 5 or shooting competitions.
The Recreation Department also needs volunteer parents/coaches for K-2nd grade levels. No experience needed, we provide you with the information you need. You must enjoy working with children and want to make a difference in the lives of our young people. WHO: Boys & Girls, Kindergarten through 2nd grade
WHERE: Wilson Center Gym. Enter the building through door #3, at the end of the service drive on the southeast side of the building.
WHEN: Saturdays, February 12, 19, 26, Mar 5, 12, 19
TIME: Practices/Scrimmages run from 10:30 am. through 2:50 pm. end time will depend on number of players registered.
COST: $31.00 City of St. Johns Residents, $37.00 Non-City of St Johns Residents
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: January 14, 2022 (Add $5.00 late fee after Jan. 14) Registrations received after this date are not guaranteed on spot.

Each session is 1 hour long. Schedules and Player Rosters will be posted on the city website by February 2nd. You will be notified by email with a schedule of when to arrive
