UPDATE: Due to the events surrounding the CoVid19 pandemic, many of the Recreation Department summer programs have been changed or cancelled. The department is working hard to offer an adapted camp experience for children this summer that observes safety protocols and social distancing. 

The Recreation Department is offering a special morning children's summer classes for 2020. Each class has participant minimums and maximums, so be sure to register early! Classes will not visit Sleepy Hollow State Park this summer.

Check your email during the week before your registered class begins for updates to safety requirements, check-in instructions, pickup procedures, etc. Covid-10 precautions include social distancing of mats, temperature checks at check in, face masks during check-in/check out (masks can be removed during the program activities), and additional safety measures as suggested by the CDC and that meet the Governor's order.


Deadlines: registration will close the Thursday prior to the first day of class, or when full.

Reminders:
 wear sunscreen and camp-appropriate attire including tennis shoes, hats/sunglasses are recommended, apply insect repellent, consider bringing a jacket (check the weather), and bring a non-breakable water bottle. Please leave snacks in the car or at home. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for check-in on the first day.

Supervision: Children can be checked into the classno earlier than 10 minutes prior to the class and must be picked up no later than 5 minutes after the class.

A parent/guardian MUST sign each child in to class daily and must sign each child out daily. Refer to your email the week before class for this updated process.

Program cancellations, delays, relocations, updates and changes will be sent via email, so be sure to OPT IN to general emails or you will not receive program notifications.

Class programming and information is subject to change.

Outdoor Movement Class:
Come hang out for an hour each week with Recreation Department counselors to play fun, energetic, outdoor activities. Biking (must provide your own bicycle and helmet), hiking, walking, scavenger hunts, games, and more are some of the possibilities for this socially distanced summer camp experience. This camp will meet at the City Park Main Pavilion except when instructed by counselors (i.e. for a bike ride day). Maximum of 10 children per age group. Cancellations for inclement weather will not be made up.

Move with Me Yoga:

Join your little one or send the older ones for a class filled with the basics of youth yoga. From stretching to warrior pose, this class will ease children into beginner yoga positions and breathing techniques useful even at home. Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle per participant. This program will meet in the park space to the east of the Spray Park between the parking lot and Park Street and Morton Street. Maximum of 10 children per age group.
