The City of St. Johns volleyball leagues will begin the week of June 1st, 2026. Each team will play 8 games. All games will be played at the Main City Park Sand Volleyball Court on Tuesday nights.
The City of St Johns Women’s Sand Volleyball league on Tuesday evenings will play matches at 6:10, 7:00, 7:50 and 8:40 p.m.

How to Register:
Managers: Create a household account if you don't have one, then register your team online. Be sure to register yourself as a player in the player registration window once player registration opens. Teams have to be registered before any players register so that rosters can be generated by the registration system.
If you have a sponsorship check for your team, click Print a Registration Form at checkout and bring that with your check to the City Offices, or put in the drop box in the parking lot, by the deadline. If you are paying online, select that option. (If your sponsor paid for the player fees as well, please contact Rachel Hoten at rhoten@stjohnsmi.gov for special instructions to give your players)
Players: Once the player registration window opens, create a personal household account if you don't have one, then register only yourself online.
If you have a sponsor who paid for your team's player fees, please contact Rachel Hoten at the Recreation Department (rhoten@stjohnsmi.gov) for special instructions after you have created your account but before you register as a player.

Substitute Player UPDATE: Deadline June 11

Substitute players will register in the Sand Volleyball Women's Leagues for no charge.
Subs for the 2026 Sand Volleyball Leagues will be permitted only from the registration roster, and subs may play up to 3 matches per team, per league. You may be asked to play for multiple teams during the league, with the possibility of playing every week if desired. If your team wants a particular player to sub consistently, you will instead need to have that player register for your team and pay the full player fee. Managers will receive the sub player roster and contact sheet with the manager packet via email prior to the first game in January. IMPORTANT: Subs will need to check in on the written roster with the Rec Staff on site before taking the court to be allowed to play.
*Registered players cannot cancel and re-register as a substitute.
A person must be listed on the roster in order to play on the team. Any team playing a person not on the roster may be dropped from the league.
You must have a minimum of three (3) players present to play the scheduled league game. Less than three (3) will result in a forfeit. You will have a five-minute grace period to get enough players present before you forfeit the first game, 10 minutes before forfeit of the second game, and 15 minutes before you forfeit all three.
This is an adult league. No more than two (2) persons under eighteen (18) years of age can participate on any one (1) team, and no one under the age of sixteen (16) may be on the roster or participate in the adult volleyball league.
There will be a scorekeeper to help with the score and any disputed calls. The City will provide beach volleyball, net, and lines.
RAIN: All volleyball games will be played in the rain. An attempt will be made to make up all games cancelled due to weather. Rescheduled games may be played on a night other than the scheduled league night. Check with the on-site recreation staff person before calling a game after you have started it.
Each team manager will be responsible for their team knowing the league rules and schedule.
