This program will have an emphasis on skill development and sharpening. It is meant to be a positive introduction to the game of basketball for first year players and a skill sharpening opportunity for returning players. All participants can expect to learn, from parents and volunteers, the basics of basketball in a non-competitive and safe atmosphere. Kindergarten, first, and second grade will work on fundamentals of basketball that focus on moving both with and without the ball. The first two weeks the kids will work through stations that focus on developing the fundamental skills of basketball. The next two weeks will reinforce those skills through stations, but add in game play for half of the session.
The Recreation Department also needs volunteer parents/coaches for K-2nd grade levels. No experience needed, we provide you with the information you need. You must enjoy working with children and want to make a difference in the lives of our young people.
