The Recreation Department is offering a number of morning summer camps for children in 2022. Each camp has participant minimums and maximums, so be sure to register early!  Deadlines: registration will close the Friday prior to the first day of camp, or when full. Reminders: wear sunscreen and camp-appropriate attire including tennis shoes, hats/sunglasses are recommended, apply insect repellent, consider bringing a jacket (check the weather), and bring a non-breakable water bottle. Please leave snacks in the car or at home to avoid messes and bugs. Please arrive 5 minutes early for check-in on the first day. Masks, social distancing, and temperature checks may be required for participation. Supervision: Children can be dropped off no earlier than 5 minutes prior to the camp and must be picked up no later than 5 minutes after the camp. A parent/guardian MUST sign each child in to camp daily and must sign each child out daily. Program cancellations, delays, relocations, updates and changes will be sent via email, so be sure to OPT IN to general emails or you will not receive program notifications. All programs are tentative pending local guidelines and subject to change or cancellation.Soccer CampOur four-day camp will focus on teaching the fundamentals of soccer in a non-competitive atmosphere.  The group will be divided into teams and scrimmage at the end of each session.  All players are required to wear shin guards.Basketball CampImprove your basketball skills by participating this summer in our four-day basketball camp. Shooting, passing, dribbling and playing defense will all be covered in a non-competitive fun environment. Little Flaggers FootballBring your friends to the park and enjoy a fun game of flag football.  This non-contact program for boys and girls will help kids enjoy the game regardless of their size or skill level.  Individual fun can be expected but teamwork will be emphasized.  Teams will be put together based on the kids present.  Morning Sports Sampler Camp Come join us in our 2022 sports camp, where we will be having fun learning and playing all the sports you have come to love. During this camp you will learn about the following sports: Kickball, Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball. Afterwards they will participate in arts and crafts and games related to the sport of that day.  Youth TennisYouth tennis lessons are offered for grades K-Adult. The fundamentals of tennis with an emphasis on fun and sportsmanship will be taught. Children are asked to supply their own racket, a new can of tennis balls and to wear proper shoes.  Summer Activities CampWelcome to Summer Activities Camp! Get ready for an action-packed camp filled with thrilling games like tug-of-war, water balloon toss, obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, relay races, and much more. Camp themes change per year, so please read the following descriptions to match with this year's offerings. Dino Camp:Explore the world of dinosaurs as campers become junior paleontologists. Camp Staff will lead discovery of the latest in dinosaur knowledge plus create crafts, play games and unearth fossils. The last day will include a dinosaur dig. This camp is sure to be DINOmite. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Under the Sea Camp:Come join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department and explore the deep blue sea. Children will participate in ocean-themed fun activities and take a trip to the spray park or high school pool. Participants must provide their own swim wear, and towel. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Mission Space:Blast off with the City of St. Johns Recreation Department as we have fun exploring activities for outer space. Children will learn about the wonders of space, and take part in space themed activities and crafts. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Science Adventurer CampDiscover the unknown by learning the secrets and skills of different scientist’s professions. Kids will learn about the different types of scientists by playing games, making crafts, performing experiments.  Junior Detective:Have you ever wondered who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? Think you’ve got what it takes to solve the case? Come join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department and learn how to become a detective. Children will do arts and crafts along with solving a mystery each day. The St Johns Police Department will stop by one day during camp, pending their availability. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Superhero Camp: This four day camp is overflowing with outdoor fun based on superheroes. You child will have the opportunity to go through Superhero training and also create their own superhero identity. Children will also participate in superhero themed arts/crafts and superhero themed games. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Wilderness Camp: Kids will really learn to love the Great Outdoors in this woodsy camp experience. Hiking, animal and plant identification, geo-caching, and large-group outdoor games are just some of what awaits wilderness campers this summer! Space is limited to the first 16 children. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.  Parent Toddler Camp: These classes will focus on parent-child interaction in a group setting. Kids aged 3 to 5 years old will be exposed to the skills of soccer, track & field, T-ball, and golf (snacks will be provided each week). Recreation Department Staff will facilitate the program while the child and parent practice the weekly activity. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Survival Camp: This camp is filled with exciting outdoor activities like orienteering, outdoor survival, hiking and using maps and compasses. Don’t be lost in the woods, find your compass and make your way to register for this camp.  Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Discovering Atlantis Camp: Explore the legend of Atlantis in this fun summer program. From searching for hidden treasures to decoding an ancient language, campers will share in some of the secrets of the Lost City and bring home crafts inspired by the legend. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Junior Firefighter Camp: Want to learn what it takes to become a firefighter? If so, join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department and learn what it takes to be a firefighter and become a Jr. Firefighter. Children will do arts and crafts activities along with participating in firefighter-themed activities throughout the week. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Volleyball Camp: This camp will introduce participants to the fundamentals of passing, serving, setting and hitting. Basic court movements will also be covered. Class is designed to be a basic introduction to the concepts of volleyball in a fun and learning environment. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.  Wild West Camp: Howdy, howdy cowpokes! Take a trip back to the Wild West with gold rush adventures, as you outwit cattle rustlers, thwart bank robbers, and learn a few tricks on the way. Crafts and western-themed games are included in this camp experience. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Wacky Wizardry Camp: Uncover mysteries and explore the unknown by learning the wizarding secrets and skills of the great Professor Stumblemore. Kids will learn the different illusions and participate in experiments, games, and crafts.  Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Through the Looking Glass Camp: This fantasy-themed camp flips the world upside down and inside out. You never know where the Red Queen lurks, and why is a raven like a writing desk, anyway? Join us as we grow, shrink, and get silly in Wonderland-themed games and crafts. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Olympic GamesJoin us for a fun-filled summer camp where kids will experience the excitement of the Olympic Games! From running races to golfing, sand volleyball to basketball, this camp will allow kids to try different sports and activities inspired by this year's Olympic Games! Crafts and games will also be included. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time. Vault Tisney CampGet ready to explore the fascinating characters in the Vault Tisney Camp. Campers are to learn about Finding Temo and Cory, Mr. and Mrs. Mouse, Mr. Brotato Head, Lightning McQuick, and Tomater. Children will learn about these special characters through games, crafts, and more! Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.

Children will participate in ocean-themed fun activities and take a trip to the spray park or high school pool. Mission Space:Blast off with the City of St. Johns Recreation Department as we have fun exploring activities for outer space. Children will learn about the wonders of space, and take part in space themed activities and crafts. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Science Adventurer CampDiscover the unknown by learning the secrets and skills of different scientist’s professions. Kids will learn about the different types of scientists by playing games, making crafts, performing experiments.  Junior Detective:Have you ever wondered who stole the cookie from the cookie jar? Think you’ve got what it takes to solve the case? Come join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department and learn how to become a detective. Children will do arts and crafts along with solving a mystery each day. The St Johns Police Department will stop by one day during camp, pending their availability. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Superhero Camp: This four day camp is overflowing with outdoor fun based on superheroes. You child will have the opportunity to go through Superhero training and also create their own superhero identity. Children will also participate in superhero themed arts/crafts and superhero themed games. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Wilderness Camp: Kids will really learn to love the Great Outdoors in this woodsy camp experience. Hiking, animal and plant identification, geo-caching, and large-group outdoor games are just some of what awaits wilderness campers this summer! Space is limited to the first 16 children. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.  Parent Toddler Camp: These classes will focus on parent-child interaction in a group setting. Kids aged 3 to 5 years old will be exposed to the skills of soccer, track & field, T-ball, and golf (snacks will be provided each week). Recreation Department Staff will facilitate the program while the child and parent practice the weekly activity. Must have a minimum of 8 and maximum of 16 per class time.Survival Camp: This camp is filled with exciting outdoor activities like orienteering, outdoor survival, hiking and using maps and compasses. Discovering Atlantis Camp: Explore the legend of Atlantis in this fun summer program. Junior Firefighter Camp: Want to learn what it takes to become a firefighter? If so, join the City of St. Johns Recreation Department and learn what it takes to be a firefighter and become a Jr. Firefighter.
